Privacy policy

Aarti is a temple-livestreaming platform serving devotees in the United States, India, and the wider diaspora. We are the controller of the personal information you give us through Aarti. You can reach our privacy team at privacy@aarti.online; devotees in India can also contact our Grievance Officer at grievance@aarti.online.

We collect only what we need to bring you the darshan: your name, your contact (email or phone), the temples you follow, your reminders, and a record of your offerings and subscriptions. When you watch, we record basic, anonymized viewing signals so temples know their aarti reached devotees.

Your information lets us show your followed temples, send the reminders you asked for, deliver receipts, and keep your account secure. We never sell your personal data. Advertising on Aarti is contextual and respectful, we do not build advertising profiles from your prayers.

You can edit your profile, change your language, manage notification channels, and download your offering receipts at any time from your account. To close your account or request a copy of your data, contact us and we will respond promptly.

We share your information only as needed to run Aarti: with the payment processor that handles your offerings (it processes card details under its own security and terms; we do not store full card numbers), with the temple you give an offering to so it can issue a receipt, and with the trusted providers that host and deliver the service. We may disclose information when the law requires it, to protect devotees' safety, or to prevent fraud. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Because Aarti serves devotees across the United States and India, your information may be processed and stored in either country and in the locations of our service providers. When we move information across borders we use appropriate safeguards required by law, and we protect it to the same standard wherever it is held.

We keep your information only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, then for any period the law requires — for example, financial and tax records tied to offerings are retained for the statutory period before we delete or anonymise them. We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege practices, and we restrict who on our team can see it.

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy, and you can object to or limit certain uses. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights. Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws have the rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information; we honour those requests and any authorised agent acting for you. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may access, correct, and erase your data, nominate someone to act for you, and raise a grievance with us. To exercise any right, email privacy@aarti.online and we will verify and respond within the time the law allows.

Aarti is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children — under 13 in the United States, or under 18 in India without verifiable parental consent. A parent or guardian may use Aarti and share the darshan with the whole family. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your language and text-size choices, and understand, in aggregate, how Aarti is used so we can improve it. We do not use them to build advertising profiles. You can manage cookies in your browser; turning off essential ones may affect how Aarti works.

If you have a privacy concern, write to privacy@aarti.online. Devotees in India may contact our Grievance Officer at grievance@aarti.online, in line with the Information Technology rules and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023; we will acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within the time the law allows. If you are not satisfied, you may also approach the Data Protection Board of India or your local data-protection authority.

We may update this policy as Aarti grows or the law changes. When we make a material change, we will update the date below and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
